FAO Chris or Sticky / Committee

Due to the floods of the Lake District back in November, our usual haunt of Spark Bridge is unfortunately out of action, and Chris has been busy as a little beaver to find the trip a new home...and here it is!

On the weekend 22nd-24th January we'll be heading to SKELWITH COMMUNITY CENTRE in Skelwith Bridge near Ambleside.

Map here

Directions
From J36 of the M6 (A65/A590/M6 junction), head on the A590 towards Barrow and Kendal. Continue on A591 dual carrigeway, heading on the Kendal by-pass, through Windermere to Ambleside. At Ambleside, follow signs for Coniston and Langdale A593. Head on the A593 through Clappersgate and past the turning for Langdale (B5343). Just after this turning, you're in Skelwith Bridge, the community centre is on the left.

----------------------------------------------------------

The centre is similar to Spark Bridge, in that the floor is where our heads will be laying. It has electricity (available the whole time), heating, a kitchen - and most importantly a pub (Skelwith Bridge Hotel) within spitting distance.

Skelwith Bridge is also at the centre of the Lakes, with white water paddling all within reasonable driving distance if not on the doorstep. In terms of rivers, the Lakes has loads to offer - and to name some (amongst others) nearby is the Rothay, Brathay, Troutbeck, Great Langdale Beck; 30 minutes away is the Leven and Crake; 45 minutes away is the Kent, Duddon, Greta and Eamont.
